Petani Garam di Pati Diminta Tak Hanya Jual Garam Dalam Bentuk Bahan Baku Saja

Kabupaten Pati masih menjadi wilayah penghasil garam terbesar di Jawa Tengah. Hal tersebut diungkapkan langsung oleh
Kepala Seksi Pemberdayaan Usaha Garam Rakyat (Pugar) pada Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan (DKP) Kabupaten Pati Ari Wibowo menyebut, hingga saat ini, Kabupaten Pati masih menjadi wilayah penghasil garam terbesar di Jawa Tengah.
“Tahun 2021 kita nomor empat se-Indonesia. Karena sekarang sudah banyak lahan yang digarap untuk petambak garam. Tapi untuk di Jawa Tengah, Pati masih di posisi nomor satu,” katanya.
Lebih lanjut, jelas Ari, sampai saat ini luas lahan tambak garam di Kabupaten Pati mecapai 2.901,62 hektare. Hingga pada tahun 2021, Pati mampu menghasilkan 98.212 ton garam. Capaian ini dikatakannya masih jauh dari targetnya, yakni 250.000 ton.
“Tahun 2021 lalu kita terkendala musim, cuaca. Tahun 2022 ini semoga bisa mencapai target, didukung dengan cuaca yang bagus. Untuk targetnya capaian tahun ini, masih sama dengan tahun lalu,” ungkapnya.
Pihaknya juga mengungkapkan, setidaknya ada 4 kecamatan dengan 21 desa di Pati yang masyarakatnya bermata pencaharian sebagai petani garam. Yakni tersebar di Kecamatan Batangan, Kecamatan Juwana, Kecamatan Wedarijaksa dan Kecamatan Trangkil.
Dengan sebaran petani garam yang sangat luas tersebut, DKP Pati mengimbau agar petani di Pati tidak menjual garamnya dalam bentuk bahan baku saja. Melainkan menjadikan garam kristal menjadi garam halus yang sudah diolah dan siap diperdagangkan.
“Kalau petani hanya berkutat di produksi, tentu tidak ada perubahan. Jadi bahan baku bisa dibuat menjadi garam halus dan dikemas. Dengan begitu, ada nilai tambah dan harganya bisa lebih tinggi,” jelasnya.
Demi tercapainya tujuan tersebut, saat ini DKP Pati bersama Pemkab Pati sedang mengupayakan langkah agar penghasilan petani garam di Pati meningkat. Salah satunya dengan melakukan pelatihan pengolahan garam kasar menjadi halus dan sudah dikemas atau dinamakan Washing Plant.
